QUESTAR EMPLOYEES CONTINUE HOLIDAY TRADITION OF GIVING
SALT LAKE CITY Questar's annual tradition of holiday volunteerism is in full swing. Throughout Utah and southwestern Wyoming, Questar employees are volunteering thousands of hours and dollars to make the holidays brighter for the communities they serve. Questar employees began several months ago collecting food for holiday food drives, making hundreds of lap robes for senior citizens and collecting items to be delivered by Santa Claus to children along the Wasatch Front.
Employees in Questar offices throughout Utah and southwestern Wyoming are taking part in the holiday effort. Each office organizes a charitable project that will have the greatest impact in its area. For example, employees in Rock Springs, Wyo., Salt Lake City, Ogden and Provo treat students at inner-city schools to an annual holiday party. Employees in Evanston, Wyo., Logan, Ogden, Springville, Richfield, Cedar City, Roosevelt and Vernal donate food to local food pantries and provide holiday meals for needy families. In addition to an annual holiday food drive, employees at the company's Salt Lake City offices sponsor an Angel Tree program and ring bells at Salvation Army donation kettles.
"I truly believe that we have some of the most dedicated, community-oriented employees around," said R.D. Cash, president, chairman and CEO of Questar Corp. "Questar's personnel donate countless personal hours and money each year improving their communities, and as a corporation we are happy to help support their efforts."
To kick-off Questar's holiday efforts, on Thursday, Dec. 7, from 4:30 to 6 p.m., Questar employees will be wrapping hundreds of lap robes they made. They'll also be stuffing hundreds of "goodie" bags for students at schools in Questar's Adopt-A-School program. Every student at Questar's adopted schools -- Franklin Elementary in Salt Lake City on Friday, Dec. 15; Dee Elementary in Ogden and Maeser Elementary in Provo on Wednesday, Dec. 20; and Roosevelt Elementary in Rock Springs, Wyo., on Dec. 21 -- will receive a backpack full of presents donated by Questar and other local businesses.
Questar will conclude its volunteer holiday activities when employees deliver handmade lap robes to the residents of Midtown Manor, a Salt Lake City nursing home, on Friday, Dec. 22.
